This intensive language course offers an introduction to Modern Hebrew for students without prior skills in Hebrew, starting with the Hebrew Alphabet. Participants will acquire knowledge of the fundamental structures of the Hebrew grammar (verb morphology and syntax) and a basic vocabulary. The course will offer many exercises in reading, listening comprehension, and conversation. Students will be given short quizzes every week. The course languages will be English (for instructions) and Hebrew (for conversation and exercises). Material and concept of the course will be organized similar to an academic Ulpan (intensive Hebrew course in Israel).
The course meets for five hours daily, Monday through Thursday, and four hours on Fridays (24 academic hours a week). Two teachers will be alternating in class.
After class, tutors will be assisting students with their assignments or any other questions they might have.
In addition to the language course, students will be offered a program for cultural activities (additional fees for some of the activities will be charged): Israeli film nights, meeting with Israeli students, visit to the Jewish Museum in Berlin, a reading evening with Israeli authors.
