Sub-project 2:

Violent practices and discourses on violence during the Seven Years’ War (1756–1763)

The examination of the Sub-project 2 continues via the Seven Years’ War as the largest and, for the first time, also equally intensively waged global confrontation of the European great powers in the eighteenth century, which assumed an interfacing function in the transition from a pre-modern to a modern form of warfare. In this project, the hitherto scarcely studied culture of violence within the tsarist army will first be examined and compared with the principal investigator’s research on the British and Prussian armies.
