Your path towards a philological degree at the University of Potsdam

As a graduate of a philological program, you will be highly proficient in the target language (C1 CEFR at the end of the bachelor’s program). That is part of our commitment to quality and we will help you get there with the language practice modules in the bachelor’s degree programs (language practice modules in philological programs).

For the best possible start, you need solid knowledge of the basics of the target language. With the help of the linguistic entrance examination, we and you can check whether you already meet these requirements.

If you are not quite as advanced in your language learning process, you can acquire the necessary language skills to start your studies in the two-semester Orientation Phase UPºgrade and then start your philological studies.

Please also check whether you already have one of the recognized credentials to be exempt from the linguistic entrance examination.

Linguistic entrance examinations are usually held twice a year during the application period. You can find out which dates you need to keep in mind, how to register, how the examination is structured, which credentials can be recognized as equivalent to the linguistic entrance examination, and how to contact us if you have any further questions on the website sections for the individual languages.
