Dr. Günther Oldenbruch

Dr. Günther Oldenbruch studied in Paris and Köln. The research for his doctoral thesis led him for one year to India. He is an expert in development cooperation. After starting his career with the German Development Institute (DIE), he worked for many years for the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) as Head of the Area Orientation Centre (The German government’s Training Institute for experts and volunteers and their families being posted to work in developing countries). In this capacity he travelled to very many countries all over the world. In 1999, he was elected Chairman of the Bonn Chapter of the Society for International Development (SID). His teaching assignments have also included courses for the German Foreign Ministry and the University of Constance. To-day his other courses in Potsdam cover the topics of “German Technical Cooperation” and “NGOs and Civil Society in Development Cooperation.” His courses at the University of Applied Sciences in Kehl refer to the “Development Coopration of the EU” and “Intercultural Competence in Development Cooperation.”
