The Department of Jewish Studies and Religious Studies is one of ten departments at the faculty of arts at the University of Potsdam. More than 350 students are studying in our bachelor and master degree courses. About 30 colleagues work in the fields of teaching, research and administration at our department.

Teaching and Research Profile

Our department offers a broad variety in teaching and research. Each semester up to 70 courses are offered in our bachelor and master degree courses of Jewish Studies (B.A., M.A., doctorate) and Religious Studies (B.A., doctorate). The combination of teaching and research is our special concern.

The different academic disciplines from the fields Jewish studies, religious studies, philosophy, history, literary and cultural studies bring in their respective perspectives in the research and teaching of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and their history and culture. A close cooperation exists with the School of Jewish Theology at the University of Potsdam.
