Qualifying Fellowship

Yearly Application:

+++ Applications are closed +++

WIPCAD offers one qualifying fellowship of € 800 per month for a one year period every year from October. This fellowship is targeted at excellent prospective doctoral fellows with clear academic potential but no developed proposal yet. Applicants must hold a Master (or comparable) degree in political and administrative sciences, sociology or public management. In exceptional cases, graduates with degrees from closely related fields may be considered.

International students are strongly encouraged to apply. The Faculty strives to increase the share of women in the university and hence strongly encourages women to apply.

Selection procedure for 2015:

  • Application period: until 31 March 2015
  • End of April: invitations to interviews
  • Mid of May: interviews in Potsdam
  • Beginning of June: feedback about results

The Qualifying fellowships start October 1.

The performance-based selection procedure comprises two steps:
First, we pre-select candidates on the basis of the submitted applications (see Application, without No. 5 “Dissertation Proposal“). Second, promising candidates are invited to a personal interview to present their projects to the selection board (in the case of international applicants this may be arranged by video-conferencing). Travel expenses can be refunded.

Notification

The admission for the qualifying fellowship program does not automatically imply the later admission for the doctoral research program in the following year. However, their application is very welcome.
