The 3-day event is the fifth research encounter in a series of “Forschungstreffen Suhrkamp/Insel”, hosted by the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach. The combined conference and young researcher’s workshop is organized by the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach and Gesine Müller (Universität Potsdam) with support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and further funding by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA).
The conference title “Publisher Power World Literature” aims to tackle several questions:
How come that some literary works turn successful and become part of the canon of world literature? What is the role of publishing strategies, translation processes, and the international book market in pushing authors and their works? Focusing on the literary networks between Germany and Latin America, both scholars and central participants of the literary field explore literary production from a transnational perspective.
