Brasil transareal – A scientific and transareal platform for projects with focus on Brazil

As a contribution to enhancing and encouraging closer cooperation between scholars and students from Brazil and Germany in the fields of cultural studies and philology, Brasil transareal wants to present, introduce and bring together projects and activities that analyze and explore literary works, authors and intellectual discourses in the context of transatlantic processes dealing with cultural transfers and transformations.

Current projects

ARCHIVE.BR – Brasilian Archives in German Language. A joint research project of the German Literature Archive Marbach, the University of Cologne and the Federal University of Paraná, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Paulo Soethe (UFPR), Prof. Dr. Gesine Müller (University of Cologne) and Dr. Marcel Lepper (Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach).

PROBRAL – Archive-pelago Literature: German-Brazilian Island-Worlds of Research.        A cooperation between the Federal University of Paraná and the University of Potsdam, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Paulo Soethe (Department for Polish, German and Classical Philology, UFPR) and Prof. Dr. Ottmar Ette (Institute for Romance Philology, Universität Potsdam).

The German Literature in 19th-Century Brazil – A Literature of no fixed Abode. A cooperation between the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul and the University of Potsdam, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Gerson Neumann (Instituto de Letras, UFRGS) and Prof. Dr. Ottmar Ette (Institute for Romance Philology, Universität Potsdam).
