On the occasion of the colloquium “German-language Literature in Southern Brazil” Gerson Roberto Neumann (currently Alexander von Humboldt-Fellow at the University of Potsdam), Ottmar Ette (Chair for Romance Literature at the University of Potsdam), and Paulo Astor Soethe (Chair for German and German literature at the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba) will discuss status and tendencies of literature written in German language in the context of Southern Brazil. One central argument will be the historical situation of German immigrants in search of a new life in a new ambience.
In addition, the speakers will present current projects and activities concerning various works, authors and intellectual discourses in the context of transatlantic processes of intellectual and literary interchange. They will also focus on the inventories of archives, situated in Brazil and written in German language, that still can be considered as insufficiently investigated by scholarly debate and research.
