The following course deals with the use of the predicative instrumental and the nominative of the type

(1) Ona vernulas domoj ustaloj
She came back home tired_Instrumental
(2) Ona vernulas domoj ustalaja
She came back home tired_Nominativ

The example (1) serves as a depictive NP which gives a statement about the subject argument and a presupposition about the event which precedes the act of speech and the act of the event. The event unexpressed is a situation in which the agent was not tired and a following action in which she became tired.
In (2), the semipredicate "tired" reaches a resultative state which the subject of the matrix clause reached at the moment of the speech act. #

In the course general principles of case theory and case use are made. We will also examine corpus relevant data.
