The prerequisites for doctoral studies on the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences are a degree with honors in a main subject area within economics or the social sciences from a university or equivalent institution, and the participation of two supervisors from the Faculty.
The new Regulations for Doctoral Degree Studies apply to dissertation proposals that began as of 25 June 2014. For dissertation projects that began before these regulations came into force, the Regulations for Doctoral Degree Studies of 27 August 2002 (AmBek No. 2/2003) apply, as modified by the amendments of 29 February 2012 and 20 June 2012.

Please note: All documents have to be submitted to the Coordinator Doctorates and Habilitations at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences!
Once full documentation has been submitted to the Coordinator Doctorates & Habilitations, the Office of the Dean reviews your application. If you are accepted to pursue doctoral studies at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences and wish to enroll as a doctoral student at the University of Potsdam your documents will be forwarded to the Office of Student Affairs or to the International Office for enrollment.
