The project focuses on the development of a multivariable model for order scheduling in order to proactively improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). It integrates conventional functions of a manufacturing execution system (MES) and modern methods such as predictive maintenance. Both vertical integration (field level and MES) and horizontal integration (machine and building equipment) are realised in the context of Industry 4.0.
The aim of the project is to analyse and optimise performance, utilisation and quality factors across components and plants in order to increase the OEE of the entire production system and permanently eliminate unforeseen downtimes, malfunctions and failures. Through the comprehensive collection and evaluation of data using machine learning methods, previously undiscovered statistical correlations can also be discovered and included in scheduling and capacity planning.
