After my graduation from the University of Greifswald in 2015, I did my doctorate at the Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology (2016 to 2020). During my doctorate, I was examining the impact of automatic affective processes on the decision for or against exercising. My empirical studies were closely related to the theoretical assumptions of the Automatic-reflective theory of physical inactivity and exercise (Brand & Ekkekakis, 2018). I was especially interested in investigating the automatic valuation of exercising, the underlying mechanisms of the affect-exercise behavior link, and in approaching the somato-affective core of automatic valuations of exercise via psychophysiological measures.
Currently, I am the scientific coordinator of the Research Focus Cognitive Science at the University of Potsdam and the coordinator of the university’s corporate health management.
Whenever possible I try to continue my research on the role of automatic associations and the affective valuation of exercise for exercise behavior. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work as a research affiliate with the team of the Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology.
