Extramural institutions cooperating with the Faculty of Science

The Faculty of Science has both external and internal networks. The majority of its departments are located in the Science Park in Potsdam-Golm. The Faculty of Science maintains close collaborative relationships with extramural research institutions in the Potsdam region in the form of joint professorships and numerous projects. These partnerships cover a broad spectrum from basic research to application-oriented research, and are also represented in the form of joint doctoral projects and courses of study.

The University has scientific partners of global standing in the German Institute of Human Nutrition, the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics, and the Helmholtz Association’s German Research Center for Geosciences, all of which are involved in our degree programs to an extraordinary degree. Close cooperative relations and joint professorships exist with three institutes of the Max Planck Society, two institutes of the Fraunhofer Society, four centers of the Helmholtz Society, eight institutions of the Leibniz society, and many other research institutions.

The Faculty of Science is also an active member in the Leibniz Kolleg.

There are also many additional national and international cooperating universities, research institutes, and similar institutions.

Teaching at the Hasso Plattner Institute for IT Systems Engineering (an affiliated institute) is oriented towards talented young people who want a practical education to become IT engineers. International research is carried out at the University’s Center of Excellence for IT Systems Engineering, with locations in Potsdam and Palo Alto, California, including commissions for renowned clients.
