Qualification goals:
Students
- are able to apply basic economic theories of public revenue,
- can determine welfare and distributional effects of taxes,
- understand the economic effects of public debt.

Written exam | 90 minutes
Registration for the module exam is required 8 days before the exam at the latest. Subsequent registration is not possible. Registration for the exam via PULS is a prerequisite for taking the exam. If you have problems with the registration, please contact Annett Wadewitz. Please make sure that this happens during the registration period! Guest students and Erasmus students please register with the assistance at least 8 days before the exam.

BA Bachelor colloquium
The Bachelor Colloquium Finance is the accompanying event for the writing of your Bachelor Thesis. For general information on the bachelor thesis, application formalities and the writing process, please refer to the pages Theses and Bachelor Theses.
Content:
- Supervision of the writing process of the bachelor thesis
- Preparation of an exposé
- Presentation of the results in a 20-minute lecture
Qualifikation goals:
Students
- know the formal and content-related requirements for a Bachelor's thesis,
- are familiar with the techniques of scientific work,
- are able to develop a research question and a research design with the support of the lecturer,
- are able to present and defend their research projects appropriately.
Final conditions:
- Exposé (3-5 pages, ungraded)

Modules:
BA/MA Seminar in recent topics
The seminar deals with current topics in financial research. The topics depend on the research area of the lecturer. The goal is to write a term paper in compliance with scientific requirements. The seminar is open to both bachelor and master students.
The dates (including the preliminary meeting for topic assignment) will be announced in due time.
Qualification goals:
Students can
- independently develop scientific questions and place them in a larger context,
- conduct an expert literature search and check its relevance,
- structure an argumentation in a meaningful way,
- apply the qualitative and quantitative methods learned,
- draw theoretical and practical conclusions from the analysis,
- present their research findings convincingly and defend them in a professional discussion.
Final conditions:
Portfolio examination, approx. 20-minute presentation and 10-15-page term paper.

MA Political Economics
The course consists of a lecture and a tutorial.
Language: English
Register in PULS for the modules "Political Economics I: Methods" and "Political Economics II: Applications". Make sure you are enrolled in the associated Moodle course. The password will be announced in the course.
Content:
Analysis of economic theory of politics and its applications (e.g. redistribution, taxation, business cycle and growth, political institutions).
Qualification goals:
Students
- have in-depth knowledge of political economy and know the current state of research in this field,
- master the methods of theoretical and empirical analysis of political economic models,
- are able to deal with current political economic issues with the help of economic theories and assess economic policy measures in a well-founded manner.
Final conditions:
Written exam | 90 minutes
Students in the Economics program are already registered for the written exam when they register for the lecture. Deregistration is only possible during the registration period. Students of EPQM have to register for the exam separately in PULS (at least 8 days before the exam date). Guest students and Erasmus students should register with Annett Wadewitz at the chair's office.

- Supervision of a research project as part of the master's thesis
- Application of scientific methods
- Presentation of the results in a 20-minute lecture
Qualification goals:
Studierende
- are able to work independently on scientific papers on specific economic issues,
- are able to create a research design, structure their research project and develop a work plan,
- are able to present their research project convincingly and defend it against critical objections,
- are able to apply adequate scientific methods to solve the research question and to justify the choice of methods.
Final conditions:
- 20-minute presentation of the results
