We are happy to announce that Dr. Nina Reiners receives the dissertation award of the United Nations Association of Germany (DGVN).
Every two years, the DGVN Research Council recognizes outstanding research on the UN system.
The dissertation “Transnational Lawmaking Coalitions for Human Rights” was supervised by Prof. Andrea Liese at the University of Potsdam. The study is interdisciplinary and located at the interface of international politics and international law. It makes an important contribution to research and policy debates by providing empirical evidence for and theoretical explanations of how civil society actors influence the development of human rights standards through the UN's expert committees.
You will find an interview with the award winner (in German) here.
The DGVN invites you on Friday February 27th to an event on the topic "Germany's role in the UN human rights system: between recognition and criticism" in the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. You can register for the event until Friday February 21st here.
