The concept of a teaching and learning lab is an innovative idea, generating a win-win situation. While visiting the school lab pupils get the chance to get a glimpse on the premises of the university. They can experiment and have scientific project days free of charge under circumstances different from their regular school experiences. Getting a whiff of student life may create additional motivation for learning in school.

In return the university gets the chance to refine research projects, and improve its academic teaching. An integral part of the concept is the development and mentoring of the projects by teacher training students. Together with participating groups of pupils they try out their devised experiments or project days. The experiences gained from this help to revise the projects. In the process the teacher training students acquire important skills on how to plan and carry out such projects - skills they need for their own future teaching.

Thus everyone profits at a school lab.
