In 2012 Katja Martin finished her bachelor in religious studies and Jewish studies at the University of Potsdam (title of her bachelor thesis: "The Jewish Cemetery Słubice as a Mirrow or Jewish Life in Frankfurt (Oder)"). From 2012 to 2014 she studied the Master Jewish Studies at Potsdam University, which she completed with honors (title of the master thesis: "Gemilut Chassadim – חסדים גמילות - Jewish Funeral Theory and -Praxis in the German-speaking world of the 19th and beginning 20th Century"). In January 2015 she started her PhD project "'Peace to His Ashes' - Cremation as a Jewish Reform Project" (investigation period 1870 - 1935), which is supervised by Prof. PhD Sina Rauschenbach. Since April 2015 Katja Martin is doctorate at the Zentrums Jüdische Studien Berlin-Brandenburg.
