The homestay principle is an important part of certain Tailor Made Programs  and should provide you with a very special insight into everyday life in Germany. The people you will live with have agreed to open their doors to you and invite you into their families. You will share their daily routine, get to know members of the family, their friends and neighbors. The ISCO and the families have a formal agreement which is basically meant to regulate the Dos and Don´ts of your time together. As a guest student you are entitled to

  • have your own room
  • enjoy daily breakfast
  • access to kitchen, bathroom and washing machine
  • have internet and telephone access (to be negotiated with the family)

So, homestay does not mean hotel but rather a once in a lifetime chance to get to know a German- speaking family, spend time together, practice the language and - have lots of fun. Thus, it is also up to you to open up and build a bridge to this family for the time you are there to really get the most out of it.

We will do our best to find reliable, friendly, and open-minded families for you. To faciliate the matching process, we would like you to fill in our Homestay Request!

We are continuously looking for new hostfamilies in the Potsdam area (no more than 45 minutes time to get to Campus Neues Palais) and/ or Berlin (within the S- Bahn Ring/ inner circle).
