KoUP Cooperation Funding was established by the President and Vice President for International Affairs, Alumni and Fundraising at the University of Potsdam as a seed money concept for the promotion of international partnerships. The program’s goal is to pave the way for international cooperative agreements and to work together with partner institutions to develop applications for external funding for research projects.
With the KoUP 2020 funding line, the University supports cooperation with partners and with universities in the following countries and regions: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Israel, Canada, Colombia, Poland, Russia, USA and the sub-Saharan Africa region; the partners within the European Digital UniverCity (Paris Nanterre and Rennes I/France, University of Cagliari/Italy, Masaryk University/Czech Republic, University of Pécs/Hungary; Nanjing University/China.
The announced KoUP fundings are awarded to support the (further) development of the cooperation with our partners. Applications to expand cooperation relations with other universities in the priority regions are also possible (cf. selection criteria). The aim is to use the funding to prepare a joint application for third-party funding with a partner institution. Please refer to the call for proposals for further information. Call for Proposals
The Vice President leads a commission that makes decisions about application approvals. Applications that focus on cooperative agreements with previously existing partners will be given preference if the application volume exceeds available funds. Calls for proposals are issued in the December before the beginning of the funding year.
In 2019, the University invested about € 230,000 in central grants for the development and expansion of cooperation with our partners. The funding line supports research and teaching, as well as knowledge and technology transfer.
