  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • AAC service delivery, assessment and diagnostics with a special focus on “feature matching”
  • AAC for early communicators, unaided and low-tech AAC
  • Multimodality and modality switching in interactions with AAC-users
  • Interactions between AAC-users and their communication partners
  • Critical elements of AAC instruction: modeling of language and communication, video-based supports, partner strategies in AAC, coaching and training of communication partners
  • AAC and inclusion

  • Systematic review: unaided AAC interventions for people with intellectual / developmental disabilities
  • Conversation analysis of interactions between AAC-users and their communication partners: focus on unaided AAC, multimodality and modality switching
