Welcome to the website of the Institute of Nutritional Science at the University of Potsdam!

The Institute of Nutritional Science at the University of Potsdam was founded in 1994 as an institute of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Rehbrücke. The institute has a long track-record of close scientific cooperation with the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE), a Leibniz Institute. Since 1946, the Rehbrücke campus has been distinguished by outstanding research in the field of nutritional science and is regarded as one of the largest locations for nutritional research in Germany. Currently, there are 5 regular professors, 2 auxiliary professors, and a junior research group working at the institute. In addition, there are 6 professors who are appointed jointly with the DIfE and a professor who is appointed jointly with the Leibniz Institute of Vegetables and Ornamental Crops (IGZ).

The institute is responsible for the Bachelor program of Nutritional Science. The master programs include the Master program of Nutritional Science and the Toxicology Master's programme in English.  In the field of research, the institute focuses on health science. Experimental and applied research aim to investigate molecular causes of nutrition-related diseases and thus generate new strategies for prevention and therapy. In interdisciplinary cooperation with the non-university research institutions, the most important diseases that may be caused by nutritional factors are currently being investigated.
