The GATEWAY.UP Autumn School is designed for talented international undergraduate students and recent Bachelor's graduates who are considering pursuing a Master's degree at the University of Potsdam.

As part of the GATEWAY.UP initiative, applicants from Argentina, India, Namibia, and the United States will receive priority consideration during the selection process. Outstanding applicants from all other countries are also warmly encouraged to apply.

During the one-week programme, participants gain first-hand insights into our four participating Master's programmes, experience the outstanding research environment of the Potsdam Science Region, and discover what it is like to study and live in Germany. The Autumn School serves as both an orientation and recruitment event, helping participants decide whether one of our Master's programmes is the right next step for them.

Please note that the Autumn School is not a scientific conference or professional workshop. Its primary purpose is to support prospective Master's students in exploring their study opportunities and preparing for a successful transition to graduate studies in Germany.

The Autumn School is free of charge for all selected participants. In addition, we cover accommodation and organize the programme throughout the week. Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel, but we will cover the travel costs. The full cost of international travel will be reimbursed for most participants. It might not be possible to cover everything if travel costs are too high, but generally, most people should be able to get full travel funding.

Selected participants will receive an official invitation letter from the University of Potsdam, which can be used to support their Schengen visa application.

The Gateway programme itself does not provide scholarships, stipends, or tuition waivers for the Master's programmes. However, this is generally not a major concern, as all four participating Master's programmes are offered by the University of Potsdam, a public university where there are no tuition fees. Students are only required to pay the standard semester contribution, which currently amounts to approximately €330 per semester and includes a public transportation ticket for whole Germany. 

In addition, you will most likely be accommodated in one of our student dormitories on campus. They're affordable and pleasant. Finding accommodation can be one of the biggest challenges, so we will help you with that. And once you become a member of our excellent GATEWAY.UP group, we will support you in finding student jobs and in transitioning to the world of work after you finish your studies. So overall, you will receive lots of support, which will reduce your costs and save your energy!
