Ann-Kristin Becker
Ann-Kristin joined the chair of Empirical Economics as a postdoctoral researcher in June 2026. Prior to joining the University of Potsdam, she gained research and policy experience at the University of Cologne, the Institute for Economic Policy at the University of Cologne (iwp), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval).
She holds a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lübeck and an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Cologne. She has been a doctoral candidate at the University of Cologne since 2021 and completed a research stay at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Her research interests in general cover topics on labor economics, regional economics, economic history, and development economics. She combines applied microeconometric methods with macroeconomic frameworks to study how technological change, migration, and structural transformation shape labor markets, local economies, and long-run development.
