Helke Seitz studied economics at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of Lund, Sweden. From October 2013 to November 2016, she worked as an academic assistant at the Chair of Empirical Economics and has been working at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) ever since. She successfully completed her doctorate in January 2019 with the dissertation "Essays in Labor Economics and Entrepreneurship" at the University of Hannover.
Her current research interests are in the area of development economics, especially in the area of financial education and small business development. Furthermore, she deals with the implementation and evaluation of interventions (Randomized Controlled Trials) in the area of financial education.
Since completing her doctorate, Helke Seitz continues to work as a post-doctoral researcher at DIW Berlin's International Economics department.
