Focus Area "Functional Ecology and Evolution"


The focus area "Functional ecology and evolution" is supported by nine professors of the Institute of Biochemistry and Biology. In addition a huge network with a variety of non-university institutions exists, such as the Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), the Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin, the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology (MPI-MP) and Colloids and Interfaces (MP-KG) in Potsdam, the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) in Müncheberg, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Halle / Leipzig.
Within the university,
 close collaborations in teaching and research exist with the focus areas of Plant Genomics / Systems Biology, Complex Systems, the Earth Sciences and the area of ​​excellence Cognitive Science.
