PhD Positions in Software Analysis, Browser or Mobile Security

The Software Engineering group at the Computer Science Institute of the University of Potsdam invites applications to PhD positions. PhD studies are generously funded according to E13 payment scale of the German public service. Our group actively supports collaborations with other research centers worldwide, and offers young researchers an ideal working environment. Potsdam is conveniently located just next to the German capital Berlin and offers excellent public transport and other travel connections. Berlin is the hub of the German and European startup scene and is a cultural hotspot. The Potsdam Graduate School offers career development, (travel) funding, and networking opportunities.

The Software Engineering group conducts research in various aspects of mobile and browser security and privacy and related program analyses. Topics of particular interest include information flow control, static program analysis, dynamic reference monitoring, programming language design as well as foundational and applied research for Android and JavaScript. Applicants are required to have completed (or be close to completing) a Master's degree in Computer Science or closely related areas with outstanding grades. Top candidates will exhibit knowledge in most of the following areas, but candidates with expertise in at least two areas are encouraged to apply:
