Anna Stutter Garcia

Biography

In 2011 I completed a degree in English Philology at the University of Valencia, a time during which I had the chance of spending an Erasmus year at the Department of Linguistics and Latin-American studies at University College London (UK), and during which I held a collaboration scholarship in the English and German Department at my home university (2010-2011). I terminated these studies with an Extraordinary Award for the Degree, an award I would also later receive for my M.A. studies in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Secondary Education at the University of Valencia (2011-2012).
Following my increasing interest for multilingualism, I studied an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and Language Acquisition in Multilingual Contexts at University of Barcelona with a scholarship from La Caixa (2012-2013). My M.A. thesis was supervised by Prof Dr Carme Muñoz Lahoz, and it looked into the interaction of bilingualism, language aptitude and language proficiency.
I am currently a PhD student carrying out research on the transfer patterns in trilingual language processing under the supervision of Dr Claudia Felser at the PRIM, funded by a DAAD scholarship.

Research Interests

My main interest lies in multilingualism and language processing, and more specifically, in the influences that the languages of a multilingual speaker exert on one another during language processing.

I am currently looking at the use of grammatical constraints in an additional language under processing pressure, specifically investigating whether the native and non-native constraints of multilingual speakers affect their processing of this additional language.
