About

Between 1976-80 I studied English and Russian  at the Pedagogical College Potsdam. After three years of work as a teacher of English and Russian, I returned to university;  in 1986 I finished my PhD in English literature on the poetry of John Davidson (1857-1909). Since 1986 I have worked as senior lecturer in English Literature and Anglophone Literatures.

For many years I have been Equal Opportunity Commissioner of the Faculty of Arts and member of the Examination Board for the Supplementary Study Programme "Gender Studies". As founding member and long-term chair, I was then also liquidator of the university association "Potsdamer Studien zur Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung e. V."

My reserach focus ranges from genre and gender in British and 20th/21st-century anglophone literatures to anglophone (women's) poetry of the 20th/21st century and British war literature. Current projects relate to19th-Century travelogues, gender und modernism, and questions of globalisation &art(s).

My teaching focusseson feminist and postcolonial literary and cultural theory, fiction between Victorianism and Post/Modernism, postwar British Fiction (Black British; Commonwealth), poetry of the19th and 20th/21st centuries, and aspects of genre and gender in anglophone literatures of  the19th to 21st century.
