Code sharing - dos and don’ts

Making code available on the internet is common practice in some disciplines, like Computer Sciences. With platforms like GitHub and standardized licenses for reuse by others, sharing code is easier than ever. But how established is the practice of code sharing in other disciplines and how much work does it require? The new Code of Conduct by the DFG states that "Software programmed by researchers themselves is made publicly available along with the source code" (Guideline 13: Providing public access to research results).

Dr. Wolfgang Schwanghart (Environmental Science) and Dr. Christian König (Biology) will give short inputs about what the important does and don'ts regarding sharing code are and how to best get started.

The event will take place on Zoom: https://uni-potsdam.zoom.us/j/2242249999
