Federico received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the Università degli studi di Torino, with a thesis on condensed matter physics. He successfully graduated from the International Master Course in “Physics of Complex Systems” from the Politecnico di Torino, run in conjunction with SISSA, ICTP, Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris 6), Paris Diderot (Paris 7), Paris-Sud (Paris 11) and the École Normale Supérieure at Cachan. Federico carried out his Master internship at the Quantitative Life Science group of ICTP, under the supervision of Prof. Matteo Marsili. The title of the thesis was “Inference of Capabilities in Production networks”, and the aim of the project was the inference of a hidden layer of nodes in a bipartite economic network, through message-passing and clustering algorithms, within a Bayesian approach. In 2015 Federico started his PhD research project, titled “Collective phenomena in networks of spiking neurons” which is jointly supervised by Prof. Ernest Montbrió at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Profs. Aneta Stefanovska and Peter McClintock at the University of Lancaster. Federico is generally interested in the modelling and simulation of complex systems. His research interests include nonlinear dynamics and statistical physics, with a particular focus on the applications to neural networks.
