In 1999 the composer Wolfgang Loos and the seismologist  Frank Scherbaum  produced the CD Inner Earth, a seismosonic symphony(Traumton records, 1999), which draws its sounds exclusively from seismic signals, in particular from volcanoes.  The work received enthusiastic reviews in the national and international press (Musikwoche, Kulturspiegel, Klassik Heute, Südkurier, Forum, Berliner Morgenpost, Adam, Notes, Süddeutsche Zeitung Net, Algemeen Dagblad, Rolling Stone,...) and was awarded CD of the Month by the magazine Keyboard 11/99. It was also the subject of numerous radio reviews (Radio Kultur, Radio 1, Radio Fritz, RBB,...) and film reports (ZDF, ORB, 3SAT, WDR), some of which are still available as podcasts (see below). In 2002 the musicologist and soundscaper Günter Olias (Uni Potsdam) presented his CD Variations on Inner Earth. title of the CD Inner Earth Variations.

Finally, in the winter semester 2009/2010 Ansgar Gersmann attempted a media-theoretical approach to the work as part of his research work "Inner Earth - Earth Sounds" at the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies.
