Important Notes Regarding Legalization of a Document for International Use

The legalization of a document for international use certification procedure only certifies the formal authenticity of a document, not the accuracy of its contents. When certificates are being circulated internationally, it must also be ensured that certificates for presentation abroad are issued by the proper authority and that the content of these documents is accurate.

In addition to international regulations governing certification, there are also bilateral agreements that make certification of some or all types of documents unnecessary.

Check the information in the list of countries to see which countries require which kind of certification: http://www.apostille-service.de/de/apostille-laenderliste.html

Notes regarding advance certifications and certifications of records and certificates for use abroad
