The English Drama Group can look back on a long history: As early as in the 1980's a small group of students ventured to give public readings of small scenes. Since 1983 there have been fourty-two different productions, some of which were produced with the help of guest lecturers from Britain. Among recent productions are also plays written by students - for instance our version of the fairy tale "The Snow Queen", which was staged in 2007.

Since the foundation of the EDG by Dr. Hiltrud Wedde the group has performed plays from diverse authors like William Shakespeare, Bram Stoker, Woody Allen or Agatha Christie. In the past eight years the EDG was directed exclusively by students.

Performances in the last years

Our productions have become more and more elaborate with time. Thus rehearsals for the more recent plays have always started at the beginning of the winter semester and lasted till the following summer semester. Till today our performances traditionally take place in early summer.
