Dr. Sol Lago

Biography

I studied Literature and Linguistics at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina (BA in 2009) , and then moved to the United States to do my Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of Maryland under Colin Phillips and Ellen Lau (PhD in 2014). I started working at PRIM in August 2014 as a postdoctoral research fellow.

Research Interests

I am interested in how speakers can integrate current, past and future information during sentence comprehension. How are these processes implemented in real time and how are they shaped by the properties of speakers’ native language? My dissertation focused on the processing of long-distance dependencies such as subject-verb agreement and pronoun resolution. In my postdoc work, I have began addressing how the processing of syntactic dependencies differs between first and second-language speakers.
