Neurocognition of Language
Current Projects
The influence of typicality and age of acquisition on semantic processing
Among other variables, the processing of concrete nouns is influenced by semantic typicality and age of acquisition. Aim of the current project is to examine how word processing of healthy and aphasic participants is influenced by semantic typicality and age of acquisition in a semantic task. Furthermore, we will investigate how aphasic processing diverges from the healthy pattern, and how processing changes in the aging brain. To examine this, we use behavioral (e.g., reaction time measures) as well as neurophysiological and neurovascular methods (e.g., NIRS and EEG).
