International Symposium March, 6th to 8th 2017

The international Symposium on "The effects of global change on floods, fluvial geomorphology and related hazards in mountainous rivers" will be held at the University of Potsdam from 6-8 March 2017. Registration is closed now. The purpose of this symposium is to bring together researchers from several disciplines as hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, hydraulic engineering, environmental science, geography, economy (and any other related discipline) to discuss the effects of global change over the river system in relation with floods.

NatRiskChange Spring Retreat on March, 16th and 17th 2017

On March 16th and 17th we will meet for our first RTG retreat in 2017 at the University of Potsdam, Campus Griebnitzsee, House 6, Room S13. The agenda will be send around per email.


NatRiskChange Fall School, October 10th-14th 2016, PIK Potsdam & University of Potsdam, Campus Golm

During our Fall School we offered the following courses:

  • Monday and Tuesday: Course DAS3 "Complex network based analysis" (Prof. Jürgen Kurths)
  • Wednesday: Course DAS2 "Recurrence analysis" (Dr. Norbert Marwan) (cancelled and will be offered again in November 2016)
  • Thursday and Friday: Softskill course "Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice" (Dr. Michael Gommel)

 

Annual NatRiskChange meeting, October 4th/5th, University of Potsdam, Campus Griebnitzsee

On October 4th and 5th 2016 we had our annual NatRiskChange meeting. All PhD students and postdocs presented their work and gave an outlook of the upcoming research. On October 6th was a joint meeting with the graduate research school "GeoSim". Our RTG members Tobias Sieg, Ugur Öztürk, Sebastian Specht and Berry Boessenkool gave oral presentations.

 

Guest lecture by Prof. Günter Blöschl

We are glad Prof. Günter Blöschl from TU Vienna was our guest on November 11th 2016 to hold a lecture on "The progress in flood research". The lecture was given on November 11th 2016 at 2 p.m. (University of Potsdam, Campus Golm, House 1, Room 1.15). A large audience gathered to listen and learn form this outstanding scientist.
