There are about 220 million speakers of French (including about 115 million native speakers) in a total of 57 states.

The French Department is located at Complex I, the Neues Palais Campus, in Building 19

Latest news:  French/Philology:

The PLACEMENT TEST for SoSe 2018 will take place the 04 April 2018 (12:00-13:00) at Zessko, Neues Palais Campus (Computerpool). Please bring your student ID or identity card with you.

Caution ! If you wish to take the test, registration is mandatory. Registration can only be completed online as of 15 March 2017. You will find the registration link at Philology/Placement & Testing (Philologie/Einstufung und Prüfung). You can also find further detailed information on placement and the tests here.
