Pillar 3: Research Design/Methods of Organizational and Administrative Research

The course supports incoming PhD students in developing a methodological approach for their dissertation projects. As such it is interactive and amenable to students’ research foci and concerns. During the first semester, the focus is on core elements of research design and different approaches in social science research – variable-based and case-oriented – are discussed.

During the second semester particular methods and instruments of organizational and administrative research such as survey research, interviews, content analysis, QCA, network analysis etc. are examined in more depths, allowing students to make an informed decision concerning which research strategies and tools to apply in their analyses.

The course is organized and taught by Prof. Valeska Korff with contributions from both WIPCAD affiliated and external guest lecturers.
