Transferring from Bachelor to Master (Übergang Bachelor-Master)

1. You are already enrolled at the University of Potsdam and are continuing your studies in a non-teaching-oriented master’s

Regardless of your application to a master's program, you must

  • from January 15 to April 15 (for summer semester)
  • from June 15 to  October 15 (for winter semester)

submit a "Application for beginning studies in a master’s degree program" via your PULS-Account (Submit Applications).

In addition, you must pay the semester fee required for re-registration within the re-registration period, so that your preliminary re-registration for the bachelor’s can be ensured.

With your application or at the latest by April 20 (for the summer semester) or October 20 (for the winter semester), please upload the following documents via your PULS-Account (Documents Upload) so that we can enroll you in the master’s degree program:

  • a copy of your admission notification and the written confirmation of accepting the admission within the time limit for subjects with NC
  • proof of completion of a bachelor’s degree
    •   for preliminary enrollment
      - Declaration on Submission of Course Achievements Relevant for the Degree - incl. academic transcript

Please note that it is only possible to submit the documents at this later date. Information about Preliminary Enrollment

(Not applicable to continuing education master’s degree programs!)

Due to the amendment to the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz – BbgHG) of July 1, 2015, you will be able to provisionally enroll in a master's degree program if the necessary proof of a completed bachelor's degree cannot be submitted by the end of the enrollment deadline (April 15 (for the summer semester) or October 15 (for the winter semester)). For preliminary enrollment, it is sufficient to submit the "Declaration Regarding Submission Of All Information Relevant To Degree Completion Before Beginning Master’s Studies" incl. a transcript of records (see Appendix of the "Application for Beginning Studies in a Master’s Degree Program"). You may only submit such a declaration if all academic achievements required for the degree have been properly registered, completed and submitted by the end of the application deadline (April 15 or October 15), and if it is only their evaluation or grading that is still pending. Documentary evidence that these conditions have been met by the end of the application period may still be submitted by April 20 or October 20. You can be provisionally enrolled in a master's degree program provided that all other enrollment requirements have been met.

Please note: If you fail to submit such proof of a completed bachelor’s degree to the Student Administration Center/ Office of Students Affairs by the end of the first semester of the master’s degree program (March 31 or September 30), enrollment shall be revoked retrospectively. Therefore, please ensure during the preliminary master's enrollment period that you have completed your degree, and ask for advice if there are any uncertainties, i. e. at least 6 weeks before the end of the semester. If you completed your bachelor's degree at the University of Potsdam, then the Student Administration Center/ Examination Office will provide assistance. If your previous degree was obtained at another university, please contact the responsible office of your former university. The Central Student Advisory Service will inform you about possible risks and consequences of a preliminary enrollment in a master’s program.
