Current employment

Since Oct 2015: Postdoc within the BioMove research training group

Education and Experience

  • 2015: DAAD Scholarship (Rückkehrstipendium) at Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre, Frankfurt, Germany
  • 2009 - 2015:  PhD in Applied Mathematics, University of Alberta, Canada (thesis with Prof. Dr. Mark Lewis)
  • 2009: Research assistant, Research Centre for Mathematical Modelling, University of Bielefeld, Germany
  • 2003 - 2008: Diplom (equiv. MSc) in Mathematics, University of Bielefeld, Germany (thesis with Prof. Dr. M. Baake)

Research interests

  • Links between movement and biodiversity (e.g., movement-mediated coexistence mechanisms, mobile link functions, land-use impacts on movement)
  • Animal movement  and movement models (e.g., random walks and extensions, resource selection, cognition and memory; effects of temporal resolution)
  • Theory development and modelling
