The University of Potsdam organizes the ECOF 11. It will take place at the
Kongresshotel am Templiner See, a place near the university and close to the palaces and gardens of Sanssouci, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The conference will be held in the city of Potsdam, which is the capital of the federal state of Brandenburg and also a very attractive tourist destination. Potsdam is surrounded by the Havel river, numerous picturesque lakes and has many castles and parks well worth a visit. The most well known castle is
Schloss Sanssouci, chosen by Frederick II of Prussia as his summer residence. The historical centre of Potsdam with its
Dutch Quarter, many village coffee bars, restaurants and shopping facilities is a definite must see on your list. Other attractions include the
Movie Themepark Babelsberg (Filmpark Babelsberg), the
Biosphere Potsdam and the
Bornstedt Crown Estate. The proximity to
Berlin provides an excellent opportunity to discover both a historical and modern-day capital.
